Arena Wins BESBY Award for Top National Championship Performance

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Recent Babson College baseball graduate Ryan Arena '18 (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) took home the BESBY Award for top performance in a national competition in a poll conducted on twitter on Friday.

Arena, who garnered 65 percent of the vote, went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI, three runs scored in the Beavers' 12-11 victory over Catholic in the opening game of the NCAA Tournament York Regional on May 17. He blasted a two-run homer in the first, walked in the fifth, singled and scored in the seventh, doubled to lead off the eighth, and then singled again to load the bases with the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Other nominees:

• 8 percent: Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.) of the men's alpine ski team finished second in the combined standings at the USCSA National Championships after placing second in the slalom and fourth in the giant slalom back in March.
