BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the postseason at the NEWMAC Championships on Saturday, while four other programs will begin tournament play this week. Nationally-ranked field hockey and men's soccer will begin play by hosting semifinal contests on Thursday, while women's volleyball and women's soccer are set to play quarterfinal matches on Tuesday night.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The Beavers traveled to Smith College on Saturday and despite wet and windy conditions, the men came in fifth, while the women placed seventh. For the men, it was their 10th consecutive top-five result, while the women recorded their lowest point total (197) and highest finish since 2011.

FIELD HOCKEY
Babson (15-3, 8-0 NEWMAC), ranked 13th in the NFHCA Division III poll, captured its fourth consecutive NEWMAC regular season title and will be the tournament's top seed for the fourth year in a row. The Beavers will host fourth-seeded WPI or fifth-seeded MIT in a semifinal on Thursday, November 1, and would also host the tournament final with a victory on Saturday, November 3.

MEN'S SOCCER
The Beavers captured their seventh NEWMAC regular season title in the last 11 years and enter the conference playoffs after ending the regular season at 11-2-4 overall and 5-0-2 in league play. Babson will take on either fourth-seeded Wheaton or fifth-seeded MIT in a semifinal on Thursday, November 1, and also would host the tournament final with a victory on Saturday, November 3.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Babson (7-9-2, 4-6-0 NEWMAC) won its final two games of the regular season to reach the conference playoffs for the 30th consecutive season. Seeded sixth, the Beavers will travel to third-seeded Emerson for a quarterfinal contest on Tuesday night. The winner will advance to face second-seeded Springfield or seventh-seeded Wheaton in Thursday's semifinals.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
The Beavers return to the NEWMAC Tournament for the seventh consecutive season after wrapping up the regular season at 20-8 overall and 8-2 in league play. Third-seeded Babson will host sixth-seeded Coast Guard in a quarterfinal on Tuesday night inside Staake Gymnasium, with the winner advancing to Thursday's semifinal round against second-seeded MIT or seventh-seeded Wheaton.
