This fall the Babson athletic teams not only performed on the field and in the classroom, but they also gave back to the community in many different ways. Several teams participated in community service events that benefited many organizations including the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Jimmy Fund. “I’m extremely proud of everything our athletes have done and continue to do within the community,” said Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur. “These young men and women have tremendous demands on their time and energy, and yet they still make the effort to give back in whatever way they can. They genuinely thrive on touching the lives of others, and in doing so they serve as wonderful ambassadors for Babson College and our athletics program.” [+]


3/7/09 - Alpine Sking
The Babson College men's alpine ski team closed out its brilliant 2009 season with a fantastic performance in the slalom portion of the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) National Championships on Saturday, as the Beavers placed fifth out of 20 teams. As a result, Babson finished sixth overall in the combined standings - matching the best finish in program history. Senior co-captains John Roche (Hingham, Mass.) and Kevin Fusick (North Granby, Conn.) closed out their respective careers in stellar fashion, as both finished in the top 20. Roche placed 18th overall with a two-run total time of 1:44.82, while Fusick was close behind in 19th with a combined time of 1:45.75. Sophomore Max Winthrop (Avon, Conn.) rounded out the team's scoring three with another excellent effort, finishing 21st in 1:46.49, and junior Connor Lemenze (Stratton Mountain, Vt.) came in 52nd with a total time of 2:04.23. 3/5/09 - Alpine Sking
Following Thurdsay's giant slalom portion of the 2009 United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) National Championships, the Babson College men's alpine ski team stood in seventh place out of 18 squads. The Beavers will look to match or eclipse their best finish ever (6th) at the event when they compete in the slalom on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET. Senior co-captain John Roche (Hingham, Mass.) once again paced Babson on Thurdsay, finishing 25th overall with a two-run total time of 2:04.28. He was followed closely by sophomore teammate Keith Vella (Sussex, N.J.), who placed 26th in 2:04.57, and senior co-captain Kevin Fusick (North Granby, Conn.), who rounded out the Beavers' scoring three in 42nd place with a combined time of 2:09.03. Junior Chris Jacobs (Rochester, N.Y.) also skiied well in the GS, placing 46th overall with a total time of 2:10.74. [+]
