The Babson College mens basketball team fell to host Stevens Institute of Technology, 75-60, in the final game of the Stevens Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday afternoon. Four of five Duck (2-1) starters scored in double figures and the defense held Babson to 36.1 percent shooting on the day as Stevens finished its own tournament 2-0. Stevens sophomore guard Mike Cutri led all scorers with 18 points and senior guard George Greco scored 13 points and racked up seven assists. Babson was led by junior Dana Mauro (Wethersfield, Conn.) who tallied 16 points with five rebounds. The Beavers return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Emerson for a 5:30pm game. [+]

The Babson College mens basketball team defeated Kings College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon at the Stevens Institute of Technology Tip-Off Tournament, 74-66. Leading the way for the Beavers were sophomore Marcus Edwards (East Hampton, N.Y.) with 20 points and first-year guard Marcus McDermott (Milton, Mass.) with 13 points. With the win, the Beavers improve their overall record to 2-0 on the season and the Monarchs of Kings College drop to 0-3 on the season. The Babson College mens basketball team held visiting Curry College to just 34.4 percent shooting in the second half as the Beavers pulled away for a 76-58 victory over the Colonels in front of a packed house at Staake Gymnasium on Wednesday night. It was the first game of the season for Babson (1-0), while Curry fell to 0-2 with the loss. Sophomore Marcus Edwards (East Hampton, N.Y.) scored 17 points to go with four steals in the win for the Beavers, while first-year Marcus McDermott (Milton, Mass.) tossed in 14 points in his collegiate debut, including 12 during an 18-2 second-half run that put the game away. Sophomore Kris Noonan (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) netted 10 points while joining first-year Russ Braithwaite (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with a team-high nine rebounds, and junior Dana Mauro (Wethersfield, Conn.) turned in a tremendous effort off the bench, scoring 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in 21 minutes of action.
