SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Babson opened the spring with a second-place showing at the snow-shortened Rhode Island College Invitational last Saturday. Following the cancellation of Friday's first round, Bornhorst fired a 1-over 73 to take medalist honors as the Beavers came in two shots behind the host Anchormen with a team score of 307. First-year Lane Bohman tied for eighth after shooting a 77, while Whitham carded a 78 to finish in a tie for 13th position. Bornhorst, who posted his third victory of the season, leads the Green and White with a 73.92 stroke average. Bohman (74.55) has broken par twice this season, and sophomore Martin Jensen (75.17) and first-year Reed Wilson (75.55) have combined for nine rounds of 75 or better.
BEAVERS IN THE REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Green and White is fourth in the initial NCAA northeast regional rankings, which were released on Thursday. Trinity is first, while NYU and Husson are just ahead of Babson in second and third position, respectively.
BUILDING ON THEIR SUCCESS
The Beavers' first-round score of 310 at last year's event was their best score at Allenale CC dating back to 2008. The team's 36-hole total of 626 was also their best over the last decade in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
