Smith, Testa Propel Ice Hockey Past Saint Anselm, 2-1, In Overtime

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- First-year Ryan Smith tallied the game-winning goal just nine seconds into overtime and classmate Zeke Testa made 34 saves in net to lift the Babson College ice hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over host Saint Anselm College in an ECAC East matchup on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Babson extended its unbeated streak to seven games (6-0-1), as the Beavers improved to 12-7-2 overall and 9-5-1 in the conference. Saint Anselm dipped to 9-8-1 overall and 7-7-1 in ECAC East play.
Babson trailed 1-0 after a Coleman Noonan goal at 1:17 of the second period, but senior Casey Fazekas pulled his team even when he scored off assists from Smith and sophomore Mike Hoban at 4:09. Testa then came up huge for the Beavers in the third period, making 14 of his 34 saves to send the contest into overtime.
Babson wasted little time in the extra session, as Smith scored off a feed from junior Terry Woods just nine seconds in to clinch the 2-1 overtime victory.
Alex Wyse matched Testa for the majority of the contest, finishing with 32 saves in net for Saint Anselm.
