BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Ryon Lynch (Frederick, Md.) had three goals and three assists while junior Dylan Sheehan (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored twice and dished out a game-high four assists as visiting Springfield College struck for 12 unanswered goals on its way to a 14-3 victory over Babson College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.

With its seventh win in the last eight games, Springfield (11-3, 6-0) clinches the NEWMAC regular season title and the top seed in next week's league tournament. Babson, which had won eight straight games, drops to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

Junior Alex Bunick (Millis, Mass.) and sophomores John Harrison (Pembroke, Mass.) and Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) all had one goal for the Beavers, who did not score after taking a 3-2 lead with 12:25 left in the second quarter. Junior Christian Cattaruzza (Guilford, Conn.) led the team with eight groundballs and three caused turnovers on the day.

Senior Ryan Murphy (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Bryce Serriello (Cape Cod, Mass.) had three goals apiece for the Pride. Senior Branden Fernandez won 13-of-17 face-offs and led all players with 10 groundballs in the win.

Sheehan converted a feed from Lynch to put Springfield in front 1-0 just 2:07 into the first quarter, but the Green and White responded with back-to-back goals to take the lead. Bunick notched a man-up goal off a pass from sophomore Scott Doten (Western Springs, Ill.) at the 10:06 mark and Low followed with a behind-the-back finish with 5:58 left in the opening period.

Springfield senior Matt Fleisher (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) tied the game at 2-2 with 1:21 to go in the stanza, but Harrison put the Beavers back up 3-2 just 2:35 into the second quarter. The lead did not last long though, as Serriello notched the first of his three goals just 51 seconds later, and Sheehan and Murphy each scored to close the stanza, giving the Pride a 5-3 lead after 30 minutes.

Lynch scored his first goal of the day to make it 6-3 with 10:11 to go in the third quarter before Springfield broke the game open with six goals in a span of 4:28 to build a 12-3 lead going to the final period. Sophomore Brandon Boss (West Springfield, Mass.) made it a four-goal game with his 13th tally of the season at the 6:05 mark, Serriello converted a feed from Sheehan for his second marker of the day with 5:12 left in the period, and Murphy scored the first of consecutive goals just 21 seconds later for a 9-3 edge.

Freeman and Lynch struck for goals just 33 seconds apart late in the quarter and the Pride limited the Green and White to just seven third-quarter possessions as they won 5-of-8 face-offs and forced six turnovers. Lynch and Serriello each added a score in the fourth for the final margin.

Babson senior goalkeeper Adam Daroff (Pepper Pike, Ohio) stopped nine shots, while Springfield senior Connor Nash (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) made eight saves in 57:08 before giving way to classmate Robert Maher (Katonah, N.Y.), who stopped one shot over the final 2:52.

The Beavers held a 34-33 edge in shots while the Pride had a 44-28 advantage in groundballs and won 15-of-21 face-offs. The Green and White finished 17-for-21 on clear opportunities and both teams committed 18 turnovers.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson welcomes MIT to MacDowell Field while Springfield will host Clark in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals. Game times for both contests have not yet been determined.
