BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College senior Zach Cattaruzza (Guilford, Conn.) was one of 70 players selected to play in the prestigious Unitied States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike 2017 Division III North-South All-Star game on Tuesday.
A long-stick midfielder, Cattaruzza is the Beavers' first North-South selection since 2015 and just the ninth player in program history to be chosen to participate in the game going back to 1980. He started all 16 contests this season and ranked second on the team with 25 caused turnovers and third on the squad with 52 ground balls. He also scored once and dished out three assists to finish the year with a career-high four points.
A three-time All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) honoree, Cattaruzza scooped up 223 ground balls and recorded 103 caused turnovers while starting 54 times in 67 career games.
The 2017 North-South Division III All-Star game will be played at Chapey Field on the campus of Providence College on Friday, May 26, at 3 p.m.
Babson wrapped up the 2017 season at 8-8 following a loss to Springfield in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals.
