Decker Earns Babson's First USTFCCCA Men's Track & Field All-Region Honor

NEW ORLEANS—Junior John Decker (Parkland, Fla.) continued to add to his accolades when he was selected as Babson College's first United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honoree on Monday.

The top five individuals in each event from eight different regions, a total of 935 men in Division III, were honored USTFCCCA. Decker is the first male or female at Babson to earn this recognition, which started during the 2015-16 season.

The second NCAA National Championships qualifier in men's program history, Decker's time of 1:50.98 in the 800-meter run ranks third in New England and 10th in Division III. He broke his own school record three times this spring and was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Track Athlete of the Year after winning three events at the conference meet back on April 29 at MIT.

Decker followed up his strong NEWMAC performance by winning the 800 meters and earning his third straight all-region honor at the NCAA New England Championships on May 6 at Williams.

Decker will compete in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Championships at SPIRE Institute on Friday at 4 p.m. in Geneva, Ohio.
