DARTMOUTH, Mass.- The Babson men's and women's cross country teams competed at the UMass-Dartmouth invitational for the 19th time in the last 21 years. The women placed 17th on the 5k course out of 45 teams, while the men finished 18th on the 8k course in the field of 41.
On the women's side, junior Stephanie Rodriguez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) made her season debut running 19:54 to place 56th as the Beavers top finisher. First-year Hannah Piispanen (Winchester, Mass.) finished in the top-100 running 20:11 for 79th place to lead the Babson's third, fourth and fifth runners under the 21 minute mark as sophomore Emma Cavanaugh (Southbury, Conn.) ran 20:36 to place 116th, first-year Vivian Lehman (Weston, Mass.) recorded a time of 20:46 for 133th, and Senior Chaela Hood (Plymouth, Mass.), who made her season debut, ran 20:56 for 143rd.
On the men's side, first-year Collin Regan (Rochester, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Green and White, running 26:20 to place 42nd. Sophomore Zach Goldberg (Westford, Mass.), who finished 71st , and Samir Arora (Fremont, Calif.), who placed 116th, ran career bests and dipped under the 28 minute mark running 27:06 and 27:52, respectively.
Rounding out the scoring for the Beavers were first-year Michael Cantaluppi (Randolph, N.J. ), who placed 135th running 28:21, and Austin Henry (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), who ran 29:36 to place 184th.
Following a week off, Babson will return to action at the Bowdoin Invitational on September 29 in Brunswick, Maine. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
• First-year Amanda Karch (Sandwich, Mass.), who competed in the Sub Varsity race, ran a career best 21:31 on the 5k course.
• Senior Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.), who has not raced yet this season, placed first at this meet a year ago.
• The Babson was one of six NEWMAC schools to compete in Saturdays meet.
