Women's Hoops Rocks Wesleyan, 66-37, At Stevens Tourney

HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Sophomore Kathleen King recorded 19 points and 13 rebounds and junior captain Becky Bowman added 15 points as the Babson women's basketball team crushed Wesleyan University, 66-37, in the semifinals of the Stevens Institute of Technology Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night. With the win, the Beavers evened their record at 1-1 and earned a trip to Saturday's title game against host Stevens at 8 p.m.

King's game-high 19 points came on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, while Bowman went 7-for-12 from the field for her 15 points while also dishing out a team-best six assists. Sophomore Nicki Wurdeman chipped in with nine points for the Beavers, and first-year Sarah Collins added six points on 3-of-4 shooting. Babson shot 46.7 percent from the floor while holding Wesleyan to just 26.1 percent shooting.

After the two teams played evenly for the first seven minutes, Babson erupted for a 14-0 run to snap a 12-12 tie and take a commanding 26-12 lead. The Beavers eventually took a 33-19 advantage into halftime, and Wesleyan never got closer than 11 the rest of the way as Babson ran away with the 66-37 win.
