Babson Honors Class of 2012 at 31st Annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet
The Babson College Athletics Department held its 31st Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night where a total of eight individuals received honors. Two women’s basketball seniors, Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) and Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) were named co-winners of the Female Athlete of the Class, while men’s soccer senior Max Walker (Newton, Mass.) was named the Male Athlete of the Class.

Field Hockey Trio Earns National Academic Honors
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released their 2011 Gladiator/NFHCA Division III Academic Squad earlier this week which featured three Babson College student-athletes. Making the list for the second consecutive year were sophomores Morgan Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Julia Pochini (Acton, Mass.). They were joined by classmate Jill Chaffee (Colrain, Mass.), who was selected for the first time. Athletes who have achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average through the 2011 fall semester were eligible for the award

National Field Hockey Coaches Association Honors Brosch, Lockwood, Pashos
The NFHCA recently announced its regional postseason awards, and a trio of Babson College athletes were recognized. Senior Anneliese Brosch and sophomore Morgan Lockwood were each named to the NFHCA All-New England East Team, while Brosch and classmate Jess Pashos were chosen to play in the NFHCA Division III Senior Game at Nichols College this Saturday, November 19.

The NEWMAC announced its annual postseason field hockey awards on Tuesday, with Babson College senior captains Anneliese Brosch (Essex, Mass.) and Jess Pashos (Winchester, Mass.) and sophomore Morgan Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass.) each earned All-Conference accolades. Field Hockey Upended By Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC Semifinals, 7-2
Six second-half tallies propelled No. 2 seed Mount Holyoke College past Babson College, 7-2, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey semifinal on a sun-drenched Jack Barry Field on Saturday afternoon. Stephanie Pascual (Lawrence, Mass.) and her sister Angelica Pascual (Lawrence, Mass.) played key roles in the Lyons’ (13-4) win, as they combined for three goals and an assist on the afternoon. The win sends Mount Holyoke into the NEWMAC championship game for the first time since 2003, as the Lyons advance to face top seed and host, MIT, on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

NEWMAC Field Hockey Seedings Set; Babson Headed To Wellesley
With the regular season complete, the final NEWMAC Field Hockey Tournament seedings and bracket have been released by the league office. Playing as the sixth seed, Babson will head across town to face third-seeded Wellesley tomorrow, November 2, at 3 p.m. in the conference quarterfinals. The winning team will then advance to the semifinals at Springfield on Saturday, where they will take on second-seeded Mount Holyoke at 2 p.m.

MIT Downs Field Hockey, 4-0
The visiting MIT Engineers scored twice in each half en route to a 4-0 victory over Babson College this afternoon in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action this afternoon. With the victory, MIT earned the NEWMAC regular season title, their first regular season championship since winning the NEW 8 Conference title in 1996.

Behind a trio of first-half goals and a suffocating defense, Wesleyan University defeated Babson College 3-0 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon in the teams' first meeting since 2006. Wesleyan improved to 7-4 with the victory, its 14th straight over a non-conference foe, while Babson now stands 7-9 on the season.

Field Hockey Falls To Connecticut College, 5-2
The Connecticut College field hockey team erupted for four second half goals, sending them past Babson College, 5-2, tonight in non-conference matchup at MacDowell Field. Junior Brittany Fitzgerald (Ridgefield, Conn.) led the Camels with three goals and two assists, while teammate Lauren Gaffny (North Andover, Mass.) chipped in with two goals, scoring once in each half. The visitors broke open a one-goal game with three tallies in the final ten minutes to put the game out of reach. First-year Caroline Malone (Walpole, Mass.) scored twice for Babson, and now has six goals in her last three games.

The Bridgewater State University field hockey team overcame a 3-1 halftime deficit as the Bears stunned visiting Babson College, 4-3, on Tuesday night in Bridgewater.
Senior forward Breanna Clement (Pittsfield, Mass.) notched her first career hat trick for the Bears who improve to 2-3 on the season. Babson slips to 4-3 with the loss.

Colleen Kelly Named Among Final 30 Candidates for NCAA Woman of the Year
The NCAA has announced the 30 semifinalists for its 2011 Woman of the Year Award, and recent Babson College field hockey graduate Colleen Kelly (Milton, Mass.) was among those selected out of 142 conference nominees. The final 30 consist of 10 semifinalists from each division, and from each of those groups three individuals will be picked to comprised the nine finalists for the award.

Babson Unveils Newly Renovated Turf Surface
This summer's major renovations of Babson's MacDowell Field complex are nearing completion as the start of the school year approaches. Among the upgrades are a brand new surface, new ornamental fencing, and a widening of the pathway between the field and bleachers.

Field Hockey Announces 2011 Schedule
Coming off its first-ever NEWMAC Championship and its second appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Babson field hockey team will take on a power-packed schedule in 2011. Among the Beavers' 19 opponents will be three teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last fall, including National Quarterfinalist Middlebury and National Semifinalist Skidmore. For the second straight year, the Beavers will open the season with a home game against Endicott on September 1. That will be the first of four straight tilts on Babson's newly-resurfaced MacDowell Field, as the Green and White welcome powerhouse Skidmore on September 3, Gordon on September 6, and Johns Hopkins on September 10.

Babson Names Ashley Ross Assistant Coach In Field Hockey And Women's Lacrosse
The Babson College Athletics Department has named Ashley Ross as its new assistant coach for field hockey and women's lacrosse, Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur recently announced. A standout goalkeeper in both field hockey and lacrosse at Division I University at Albany in New York, Ross received her Bachelor's Degree in 2009 as well as her Master's Degree this past spring. During her time as an undergraduate, she enjoyed a tremendous field hockey career, earning America East All-Conference honors three times and All-Northeast Region recognition once. She was twice named to the America East All-Tournament Team, including Most Valuable Player status in 2008, and she was runner-up for the conference's Woman of the Year Award.
