Pesce, Tango Garner NEWMAC Field Hockey Academic All-Conference Honors

WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College field hockey senior Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) and junior Haley Pesce (Roxbury, Conn.) were recognized for their success in the classroom for the second year in a row when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference team on Thursday.

A two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America selection, Tango has produced 15 goals and 14 assists for 44 points in 19 games this fall. She ranks fourth in the league in scoring and is tied for eighth in Division III in assists, and is one of just three players in program history to surpass 40 points in three consecutive seasons.

Pesce has made a career-high 19 starts this season as at sweeper for the Beavers', who boast the conference's top-ranked defense. The Green and White has conceded just six goals in NEWMAC play and has posted six shutouts overall on the year.

In order to be eligible for NEWMAC Academic All-Conference consideration, honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2017 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

No. 13 Babson (15-4) suffered a 2-1 loss to MIT in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on Thursday afternoon.
