LAKE LYTAL, Fla. -- No. 13 Tufts University used a huge second half to defeat no. 9 Babson College, 19-11, in a matchup of two of the nation's top women's lacrosse teams on Tuesday night. With the win, the Jumbos remained unbeaten at 4-0, while the Beavers saw their record fall to 2-2.
Junior Anna Collins and senior captain Jess Parker each scored three goals for Babson, while senior captain Jackie Godfrey added two goals and four assists for six points. Senior captain Lindsay Bucci also netted a pair of goals, while first-year Erin Daley rounded out the team's offense with one score.
The contest remained close throughout the first half, with Tufts scoring four of the final six goals to take an 8-6 lead into the break. The Jumbos then scored five straight goals during a 7-1 run in the second half to pull away for the 19-11 victory.
Sophomore goalie Sarah Macary all but three minutes in net for the Beavers, finishing with nine saves.
