Softball Suffers Through Lopsided Sweep In Florida
BOX SCORE vs. BOWDOIN | BOX SCORE vs. BERRY
CLAREMONT, Fla. -- Thursday marked a tough return to action for the Babson College softball team, which lost both of its contests in five innings. The Beavers fell to Bowdoin College, 10-1, in their first game and then lost to Berry College, 13-1.
First-year Jaclyn Enos (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore Jess Pashos (Winchester, Mass.) provided nearly all of Babson's offense in the loss to Bowdoin, as both went 3-for-3 at the plate. Enos doubled and scored the Beavers' lone run on a sacrifice fly by first-year Catie Funk (Scarborough, Maine) in the top of the first but that would be all the Green and White would muster against the Polar Bears. Sophomore Lisa Wojnar (Bellaire, Texas) was the only other Babson player with a hit as the Beavers shouldered the 10-1 defeat.
Berry completely dominated game two, scoring four in the first, two in the second, and seven in the third to build a commanding 13-0 lead. The Beavers finally broke through in the top of the fifth, as senior captain Britt Russo (Middletown, Conn.) singled with one out, moved to second on a walk by junior Cara Hart (Holliston, Mass.), and scored on an RBI single by Funk. Hart and junior captain Jess Winer (Longmeadow, Mass.) had the only other hits for Babson in the contest as Berry claimed the 13-1 win.
