Women's Swimming & Diving 10th After Day Three of NEWMAC Championship

WORCESTER, Mass.—The Babson College women's swimming & diving team posted season-best times in five different events on the third day of competition at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Saturday at WPI. 

The Beavers collected 28 points on Saturday and sit in 10th place after 13 events with 116 points overall. Nationally-ranked MIT will enter the final day of competition with a commanding 466.5-point lead over second place WPI.

The Green and White had a pair of teams earn points in the 200-yard medley relay, led by the quartet of senior Mallory Ham (Norwalk, Conn.), junior Reilly Robbins (Centerville, Mass.), sophomore Maria Orive (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and first-year Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.), which(cFiskdale, Mass.) narrowly missed the 'B' final of the 400-yard IM, touching the wall with a time of 5:19.03 to finish 24th. Rentovich came in 25th in the prelims of the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:12.36, while Robbins was Babson's top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 1:08.66 to touch the wall in 28th position.          

The Beavers return to the pool for the final seven events of the conference meet on Sunday at 10 a.m.
