BABSON PARK, Mass.—Following Sunday's victory over Trinity College in the Hartford Regional championship game, No. 7/9 Babson College was selected as one of eight hosts for the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals beginning on Friday.
The Beavers (36-7), who set a new single-season record for wins with Sunday's triumph over the Bantams, will face No. 19/20 SUNY Cortland (34-11-1) in a best-of-three series with the winner advancing to the Division III College World Series in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Game one is set for 12 p.m. on Friday, while games two is slated for Saturday at 11 a.m. Game three will be played 50 minutes following the completion of Saturday's first contest, if necessary.
Babson is one of the final 16 teams standing for the third consecutive season after reaching the championship round of eight-team regionals in both 2017 and 2018. Making its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance under the direction of 17th-year head coach Matt Noone, the Green and White is looking to reach the College World Series for the first time in program history.
One of college baseball's top program's over the last three decades, the Red Dragons defeated Alvernia College and Tufts University twice to advance to this weekend's super regional. Cortland captured 14 regional titles in 24 years from 1995-2018 and won the 2015 national championship under the guidance of head coach Joe Brown, who has led the program to 30 or more wins in 25 of the last 26 years.
Ticket prices (cash only) are $10 per day for adults, $6 for senior citizens and students, and $4 for children under 12. Children under two will be admitted free of charge. Fans should also plan to park in the lots at the Babson Skating Center, which sits adjacent to Govoni Field.
A full super regional preview will be published on Wednesday.
