BABSON PARK, Mass.—Seniors Connor DeFiore (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Ramone Doyley (Kingston, Jamaica), Roy Murdock (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Sanjay Zimmerman (Montreal, Quebec) were all victorious in their final regular-season home match as Babson College tied the program record for single-season wins with a 9-0 triumph over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at Farwell Courts.
Babson, which has now won seven consecutive matches, moves to 13-3 overall, equaling the 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2003-04 teams for the most victories in school history. Colby-Sawyer drops to 11-10 on the year.
DeFiore teamed with junior Victor Vu (Los Angles, Calif.) for an 8-6 win at number one doubles, while Doyley and first-year Ben Roque (Coral Gables, Fla.) posted an 8-3 victory at number three. Junior Saif Rahim (Hong Kong) and sophomore Felix Wee (Kenningston Park, Singapore) completed the sweep with an 8-1 triumph at number two.
The Beavers rolled to straight-set wins in each of the six singles matches, led by Wee's 6-1, 6-0 result at number three. Junior Isaac Thylen (Surfside, Fla.) stayed unbeaten in dual-match competition with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at number one, while Vu cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at number two.
Doyley picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at number four, Murdock posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number five and Zimmerman capped the shutout with a 7-5, 7-5 result at number six.
Top-seeded Babson returns to action on Saturday as it hosts fourth-seeded Clark in the first of two New England Women's and Men's Athletic Confernce (NEWMAC) semifinal matches at Farwell Courts starting at 12 p.m.
