Dynan Wins Men's 1500, Raffone Takes Women's 100-Meter Dash
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Babson College track & field seniors Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) and Angelina Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.) wrapped up a busy week of competition at the MIT Last Chance Meet on Thursday night at Henry G. Steinbrenner '27 Stadium.
Dynan, who entered the night ranked 24th in Division III in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:53.52, came in first but was unable to rise in the rankings posting a time of 4:02.10. With the top 20 runners earning a spot in the Division III Championships he must now wait until the selections are announced on Sunday to find out if any athletes ranked ahead of him choose not to declare for nationals in the 1500 meters.
Raffone, who was coming off a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Williams Last Chance Meet on Wednesday evening, came in first on Thursday with a time of 12.25. The time was just 0.01 seconds off her fastest time of the season, but likely was not enough to help her earn a bid to nationals. The school-record holder in both the 100 and 200 meters at Babson, Raffone is tied for 31st in Division III with just the top 22 qualifying for the national championships.
