BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College breezed to an early lead after doubles and won all six singles matches in straight sets on its way to defeating visiting Emerson College, 9-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Complex.
Babson, which had dropped its last two matches to top-five opponents, improves to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league play, while Emerson slips to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in the NEWMAC.
Sophomores Alexa Tutecky (North York, Ontario) and Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C.) won 8-1 at number one doubles, while classmates Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador) and Marissa Madison (Columbus, Ohio) at number two and junior Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) and Mary Kille (Simsbury, Conn.) at number three recorded matching 8-2 victories.
Tutecky was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at number one singles, Tamarkin dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at number, and Merz posted a 6-3, 6-0 result at number three. Madison recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number four, Roeper swept her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five, and Kille wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-2 decision at number six.
The Beavers return to action on Thursday when they host Trinity at 3 p.m., while Emerson travels to Mount Holyoke on Saturday at 11 a.m.

• The Beavers have their NEWMAC opener in 12 straight seasons going back to the 2007-08 campaign.
